Dr. McCarthy Joins TOA
TOA would like to welcome Dr. John J. McCarthy to our practice. Dr. McCarthy is a familiar face in the Williamsburg community and we are foturnate to have his years of experience come to our Williamsburg office. Dr. McCarthy specializes in joint replacements and general orthopaedic care while maintaining an interest in hand surgery. Tidewater Orthopaedic Associates (TOA) has available an Open-Extremity MRI machine and is the only one available to the public of Virginia. Below is a list of unique features:
- Image quality equal to most hospital-based MRIs

- The only part of your body going into the MRI machine is the one getting scanned

Dr. Smerlis has Joined TOA
Tidewater Orthopaedic Associates would like to welcome Dr. Nicholas A. Smerlis. TOA offers the only Hand Specialty Group along the Peninsula and Dr. Smerlis will join Dr. Campolattaro's hand specialist practice. A Johns Hopkins University graduate, Dr. Smerlis went on to the University of Maryland School of Medicine and earned his four-year residency from the University of Rochester. Dr. Smerlis comes to TOA from Winston-Salem, North Carolina having finished his fellowship-training in hand surgery at Wake Forest University.
